Questions & Answers
Why choose our organic spirulina?
How is spirulina produced?
Our spirulina is grown in India, in shallow freshwater basins containing alkaline water with a temperature between 28°C and 35°C, in an environment protected from any pollution, contaminant or pesticide.
Once harvested, the spirulina is filtered. A green paste, called "biomass", is then collected from it, which is then dewatered and manually pressed to extract the water.
Through this process, the biomass is transformed into fine filaments that resemble spaghetti, which are then cold-dried (at less than 50°C to preserve the nutritional integrity of the product) and crushed to obtain granules or flakes.
These are then compressed (also cold) into tablets.
Thus, our spirulina is free of excipient, binding agent or additive and is 100% pure!
Does the organic label for spirulina really exist?
Since May 7, 2017, spirulina is part of the scope of EU Regulation RCE 889/2008 which gives it access to the organic label. This label guarantees the conformity of spirulina to the charter of organic farming:
- not GMO,
- no ionizing radiation during storage,
- no chemical or mineral fertiliser except mineral nitrogen,
- respect for sustainable development and the environment,
- soil, water and air conservation.
Why don't you offer spirulina grown in France?
We have chosen not to offer French Spirulina for three main reasons:
Due to our climate, which is not very suitable for Spirulina, it is necessary to recreate a growing environment similar to the original tropical climate, unfortunately with the help of artificial lighting and heating.
Its price is prohibitive because the yields of French artisanal crops are relatively modest.
French spirulina is not necessarily more qualitative in nutritional terms.
Why take spirulina in tablets and not in powder form?
We believe that tablets are the best way to benefit from the properties of spirulina.
In our opinion, it is much easier to consume tablets than powder - which needs to be weighed to determine your daily intake.
Moreover, it must be acknowledged that spirulina does not really taste good. By swallowing the tablets directly with a glass of water, the taste is less pronounced compared to consumption in powder form!
I'm a vegetarian. Is spirulina useful to avoid deficiencies?
Spirulina is rich in plant proteins and has a balanced supply of amino acids. It also contains B vitamins and iron (although less properly assimilated than iron from animal sources, but better assimilated than the iron found in fruits and vegetables).
To fix iron well, it is recommended to consume it with vitamin C. It is therefore an ideal supplement for vegetarians and vegans to avoid possible deficiencies!
To which other product should Spirulina be associated?
To promote the assimilation of iron, you can combine spirulina with the vitamin C.
